- 9. Project Description/Overview
- The Hancock County Utility Authority (HANCUA) is requesting funding for an infrastructure project for improvements and upgrades to the Bay St. Louis - Cedar Point wastewater pumping station, located south of Felicity Street and east of Hollywood Boulevard. The pump station serves the Cedar Point area of Bay St. Louis. The pump station is in need of replacement of structures and components, renovations and upgrades. The proposed improvements consist of installation of a new concrete wet well, with a depth of approximately 20 feet, a minimum of two (2) new submersible pumps with increased capacity, a new concrete valve vault with new valves, flow meter, electrical upgrades, associated piping and site work.
- 10. Project Goals/Objectives
- 1. Provide reliable and sufficient wastewater pumping to transport all existing and future wastewater flows generated from the Cedar Point area for treatment at the Hancock County Southern Regional wastewater treatment facility, 2. Lessen the probability of environmental impacts to surrounding streams, bayous and the Bay of St. Louis resulting from potential raw wastewater discharges.

- Yes: The project will result in providing improvements necessary for reduction of the possibility of untreated wastewater impacts to coastal wetland areas adjacent to the Bay of St. Louis.
- (B) Mitigation of damage to fish, wildlife, or natural resources.
- Yes: The project will help to ensure improved water quality to the surrounding receiving water bodies, as well as, reduction of possible threats from potential discharge of unsatisfactory treated wastewater due to a variety of circumstances which could occur, and result in negative impacts to fish, wildlife and natural resources.
- (C) Implementation of a federally-approved marine, coastal, or conservation management plan.
- (D) Mitigation of the impact of Outer Continental Shelf activities through funding of onshore infrastructure projects.
- Yes: Wastewater that is collected from this area is conveyed by this Cedar Point Pump Station to the HCUA Southern Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility. This WWTF provides for advanced treatment prior to discharge of the treated effluent.

MONTH 4 - 10: Design Phase MONTH 11 - 13: Plan Review, Comments and Approval by MDEQ MONTH 14 - 17: Bid Phase, Award Construction Contract and Issue Notice to Proceed with Construction MONTH 18 - 24: Construction and Project Close Out Phases Assuming award and availability of funds in July 2023, project completion will be June 2025.
