- 9. Project Description/Overview
- Coastal Mississippi will develop an effective marketing, advertising and promotions strategy that supports, educates, and increases revenue for the Mississippi commercial fishing industries, including but not limited to: seafood-retailing establishments, shrimp, oysters, crabs, and finfish. Simultaneously promoting Coastal Mississippi's award-winning culinary seafood scene and top chefs. The campaign will highlight Coastal Mississippi's numerous seafood and sea life related attractions, events and festivals which will increase visitation and provide further support for the over 10,000 jobs in the seafood industry. The campaign will strive to increase the already $470 million plus contribution of the seafood industry to the state's economy.

- 1. Support Coastal Mississippi's tri-county (Harrison, Hancock, and Jackson) seafood industry. 2. Educate and increase awareness of the sea life and seafood that comes from our generous Gulf of Mexico 3. Educate and increase awareness of conservation programs regarding sea life and estuary ecosystems in Coastal Mississippi 4. Increase revenue for fishermen, seafood-retail establishments, and restaurants, hotels and attractions 5. Increase visitation to Coastal Mississippi 6. Increase economic impact to tri-county region and State of Mississippi.

- Yes: The project seeks to restore the lost revenue to Coastal Mississippi communities through advertising and promotion of the wide variety of seafood available, sea life and limitless possibilities of attractions, museums and things to do in the region for visitors.

- 15. In what way does this project meet the goals and objectives of the Department of Marine Resources, which includes enhancing, protecting and conserving the marine interest of Mississippi for present and future generations?
- The Coastal Mississippi Seafood Marketing and Advertising Campaign project will serve as vehicle to bring awareness to the region's seafood industry. The campaign will highlight the sea life and estuary ecosystems of South Mississippi that provide opportunities for visitors and locals to engage and interact with local wildlife. The project will educate on the conservation efforts of marine and land species and their importance to the region's cultural heritage. The project will involve video, still images and testimonies of local fisherman, marine scientists, conservation specialists, and other experts as they discuss the importance and impact to the marine life of Coastal Mississippi. The campaign will lead consumers to websites where they can become more involved in conservation efforts and plan trips to Coastal Mississippi that will increase the economic impact.
