- This project will serve to provide for the replacement/stabilization of west bulkhead wall in the West Small Craft Harbor of the City of Pass Christian. The stabilization/replacement of the west bulkhead wall will allow for increased opportunities for the public to participate in recreational activities and for representatives of educational institutions to study the general health of the local ecosystem. The project is intended to be constructed in phases as funding allows. It is designed to stabilize the existing wall by drilling wall anchors into it to prevent further overturning and also construct a new wall in front of the existing wall. Both walls will be connected to each other and the soil anchors, which will be grouted into place approximately 45' -50 feet from the face of the new wall. Currently, the existing wall is failing in an area where increased commercial activity is taking place. The project will maintain waterfront access for the commercial fishermen and food establishment that currently occupies the area and provides services to the general public. This project will serve the City and general public in maintaining the waterfront access of the existing West Small Craft Harbor. The breakwater wall on the east side of the harbor has been completed and Phase l of the breakwater wall in the west side of the harbor was completed in 2014. The estimated cost for the Phase II Project (225 If) is approximately $2.59M. As funding allows, the City of Pass Christian intends to complete the remainder of the west bulkhead wall to ensure continued access to the water by commercial/recreational fishermen as well as the general public.
