- 9. Project Description/Overview
- This project will serve to improve the functionality and effectiveness of the transport of sanitary sewage to the nearby publicly owned wastewater treatment plant. The project will replace failing components within the pump stations (i.e, discharge piping, valves, pump bases) and will also retrofit each of the pump stations with bypass capabilities to allow for more ease of performing routine maintenance on the stations without disrupting the service. In some of the areas, the work will include raising control panels to help prevent system disruptions by flooding during normal tropical occurrences. In areas where the station wet well is located withing the travel lanes of city roads, it is proposed to replace the existing manhole lid with a new concrete top and traffic-rated hatch cover, which will allow more ease of access and will also provide additional safety features for workers entering the confined space of the wet well.

- To provide a safe and reliable source of sewage transport across the City with the expectations of improved employee safety and efficiency of the system to deliver the waste to the WWTP without overflows, spills, etc. in a continuous effort to eliminate any potential environmental impacts due to domestic sewage.
